Teaching Assistants

Section 3.6 from the Undergraduate Guide "Becoming a Teaching Assistant or Grader":

The department hires teaching assistants (TA’s) and graders for many classes. Although first priority is given to graduate students, many TA’s and graders are undergraduate students. At this time there is not a standard application process if you wish to be a TA or grader. Instead, you should discuss your interest with the faculty member who is responsible to teach the class for which you wish to be a TA or grader. The faculty member teaching the class has final authority to hire TA’s and graders for the class.

TA’s and graders are representatives of the department and university and are expected to be professional in executing their duties. You should always be respectful and courteous towards students. Please be careful to keep your office hours. At the beginning of the school year the university hosts a training seminar for TA’s; please plan to attend if you have not attended before.
