CAEDM LABS

CAEDM has developed computer labs containing personal computers. A variety of software is available that spans from word processors, spread sheets, numerical and symbolic solvers to graphic programs,color scanners, and the latest releases of Autocad and Pro Engineer. 

CAEDM also provides many Hewlett Packard UNIX work-stations which run some of the finest 3-D modeling software available. The programs range from I-deas, Pro-Engineer, and Ansys. Finite element programs are available to run with any of these programs. Numerical controlled tool paths can also be generated, using these programs, to fabricate parts on any of the NC lathes or mills available to students.

Free, unlimited Internet access is also provided for engineering students in any of the computer labs. E-mail address's are provided along with 100 Mbytes of memory for each engineering students use. Web sites can also be created and posted to the Internet through a CAEDM account.

Machine Shop and Instrumentation Equipment

The M.E. department maintains an equipment check-out room in 154 CB from which students may check-out items such as multimeters, thermocouples, and other equipment to use for class projects etc. The machine shop in room 150 CB is also open for the M.E. students use. In order to operate the equipment in the machine shop, a safety test is required.

The Reading and Writing Center

Located in 1010 JKHB

Brigham Young University offers a reading and writing center to aid students in their written communication skills. Their purpose is to help you, the writer, improve your writing style. They are available to talk with you about the ideas in your paper and how clearly you have conveyed those ideas to us as a reader.

AIM

AIM is BYU's on-line computer system which helps students plan their academic career. Registration, grade listings, and address changes are a few of the tasks that can be accomplished using the AIM system.
