Introduction

Carl Sorensen is Associate Professor of Mechanical Engineering and is currently the holder of the B. Keith Duffing Teaching and Learning Fellowship. His teaching interests are very broad. He currently teaches classes in Manufacturing Systems and Engineering Design. He was one of the founders of BYU's senior capstone design program, which involves students in work on industrially-sponsored design and build projects. He has taught and developed curriculum in Engineering Design in both the U.S. and Japan. Professor Sorensen is also active in research work in Friction Stir Processing of materials with high softening temperatures, such as steels and stainless steels.
