ME Computer & Study Labs

Rooms 110 and 230 in the Crabtree Building offer computers and study labs for students to study and collaborate. These labs are only available to ME Students.

Fulton Supercomputing Laboratory

Supercomputers in the Fulton Supercomputing Laboratory are available to BYU and other CES institutions faculty and students whose research projects require more compute resources than their desktop can provide. The Fulton Supercomputing Lab offers a total of 2780 CPU cores and 5752 GB (5.6 TB) of memory across all of its systems. MSDNAA

The Microsoft Developer Network Academic Alliance, or MSDNAA is a program that allows students and faculty to download Microsoft software programs for academic related non-commercial purposes. Some examples of what is available are: Windows XP Professional, Windows Vista, Visio, Project, Visual Studio and more.

All college students and faculty now have access to MSDNAA through their CAEDM account – no additional setup required. To log in, visit MSDNAA and log in using your CAEDM account.

VMWare

The VMWare Academic Program allows students and faculty to download VMware products and software programs for academic related non-commercial purposes.

Machine Shop and Instrumentation Equipment

The M.E. department maintains an equipment checkout room in 154 CB from which students may checkout items such as multimeters, thermocouples, and other equipment to use for class projects etc. The machine shop in room 150 CB is also open for the M.E. students' use. In order to operate the equipment in the machine shop, a safety test is required.

If you need assistance with the department computer resources, please make a support ticket. If you need assistance with the CAEDM printers, please contact CAEDM. For problems with department printers, make a support ticket. To refill printer paper or ink, for a non-CAEDM printer, please visit the secretaries in CTB 435 or call them at 422-2625.

The Writing Center

Located in 4026 JKB

Brigham Young University offers a reading and writing center to aid students in their written communication skills. Their purpose is to help you, the writer, improve your writing style. The Fundamentals of Engineering Exam (FE)

The Fundamentals of Engineering (FE), formerly Engineering-In-Training (EIT), is a test taken after a student has completed most of their undergraduate education. It is one step toward becoming a Professional Engineer (PE). This test is administered twice a year, once in April and October. It is recommended to take the FE exam during or soon after graduation. After several years of practice, an engineer may take the Principles and Practice of Engineering exam to qualify for a PE.
