Scholarships

Scholarships are awarded based on several criteria besides just GPA. Preference is given to students who are not already on scholarship. All full-time, declared Mechanical Engineering undergraduate students are eligible to apply for scholarship funding. The application procedures must be followed carefully, and the submission deadline met, to ensure consideration by the department Undergraduate Scholarship Committee. The Procedureto apply is as follows:

At any time during the academic year, you may obtain a copy of the Application for Department Undergraduate Scholarships online, or from the secretaries in the Mechanical Engineering office. At the time you receive the application, the secretaries can also answer specific questions regarding the process.

Answer all of the questions on the application form, using care to provide complete information, accurate dates, and specific data where requested. (Your responses do not need to be typed, but they must be legible.)

Return the completed application form to the secretaries in the Mechanical Engineering department office no later than 5:00 p.m., on the first Monday in April. Applications submitted after the deadline will not be considered as eligible to receive scholarship awards during the following academic year.

Recommendations from the Undergraduate Scholarship Committee will be presented to the department faculty for approval, and all scholarship applicants will be notified by mail regarding department decisions with respect to their individual application. Department correspondence will be mailed to the student's permanent address as provided on the application form.

Brigham Young University also gives out a variety of scholarships as well as financial aid. Please contact the Financial Aid Office for further information.
