Clubs and Associations
Involvement in student clubs and academic associations is a great way to apply and demonstrate engineering knowledge, make friends, serve others, and develop a professional network. BYU differentiates between "clubs" and "Student Academic Associations" or SAAs. Clubs are organized and run through the BYU Student Association (BYUSA) and are less likely to be connected to a specific major or academic purpose. Student Academic Associations are run through Colleges and Departments and typically have a technical or professional component.
The university has the website clubs.byu.edu. This is where all official clubs and academic associations of interest are located. Most of the SAAs of interest of Mechanical Engineering students can be found by searching the word "Mechanical". Additional SAAs of interest may be found be searching the words: Chemical, Electrical, Manufacturing, Civil, or Computer.
Some of the more popular student academic associations for mechanical engineering students are listed below. You can visit the SAA website listed below or go to clubs.byu.edu to contact and join the SAA.
