Exploring product development on a Singapore study abroad

Each May for the past 10 years, Brigham Young University mechanical engineering students have been traveling to Singapore for a product design and development study abroad experience. In 2023, 50 students from three universities, including sixteen from BYU, took projects like an automated tourniquet and a sensor system for blind individuals from ideation to completion in just two weeks.

Dr. Charles’ research assistants took the Rocky Mountain Chapter of the American Society of Biomechanics by storm in April. Eight of the ten research assistants (RAs) who represented Brigham Young University presented their research, and BYU took home three of the eight awards given at the conference.

Mars Rover team takes third at competition

The Brigham Young University Mars Rover team competed against 31 teams from 15 countries in the three-day 2023 University Rover Competition the first week of June. They landed third place overall, making their way back onto the winners podium at the Mars Desert Research Station for the first time since 2017.

On April 5, the WSC Ballroom on Brigham Young University campus was turned into a showroom for 56 different projects as part of the annual Capstone Design Fair. The teams for these projects presented design work and prototypes that they have been working on since Fall semester as part of the Capstone program in the College of Engineering.
